A friend of mine that works in music production asked me to stop by his studio and take some quick promo shots for a new metal band he is working with… If your a musician in the KC area looking for a recording studio, be sure to check him out at Axel Harvey Productions and if you have an interest in Metal, be on the lookout for some new music from Progeny!
This shot I took of an Audi A6 at sunset in Kansas City snagged me an honorable mention in the International Photography Awards. Having only a camera and tripod with me, the correct lighting balance was achieved by shooting one exposure for the sunset and buildings, and another for the car itself, combining them later in post.
"Skyline Burst", Kansas City
With the one day of nice weather rolling through the city, I thought I’d take advantage and get out to shoot. After a lackluster sunset, headed over to the classic view of KC to get a skyline shot with Union Station lit up in green for St Paddy’s Day (really for Oz the Great and Powerful, but close enough). Gave it a three second zoom at the end of a thirty second exposure just for the fun of it.
Happy St Patrick’s Day!
"School’s Out", Kansas City
Paul Robeson Middle School for Classical Studies
This is from about two years ago.. having driven by this school often when I lived in the city, I thought the abandoned nature of it might make for some interesting HDR images…
From the Pitch:
Named after the black Shakespearean actor, opera singer and civil rights activist, the school converted to a classical Greek magnet school in 1990. That gave way to a traditional middle school program in 1998, and the building closed in 2004.
